Rachel & I have known each other for years....her entire life in fact. Her mum and my mum are cousins, and given that my mum has somewhere in the region of 40 cousins (I have lost count!), not all of whom I could name never mind pick out of a line up, to say she feels closer than a second cousin is somewhat of an understatement! I was absolutely over the moon for Rachel and Euan when they announced their engagement last Christmas and to be asked to photograph their big day was such an honour.
From the amazing venue, to the incredible skills that bridesmaid 'big Lucy' (both bridesmaids were called Lucy) brought with her at keeping everyone on track and relaxed, the personal touches such as the monogrammed mugs for both Lucy's and the clever centrepieces showing the couple at various ages, as well as the little ways in which the farm was brought in to the details throughout the day. Their friends and family sharing their time and talents such as the stunning double sided cake, the incredible singing in the church, the vintage Jag and chauffeur, nothing was overlooked (Rachel even had her wellies to hand when we popped by the farm for some photos en route between the ceremony and reception) and the day ran very smoothly. Given that it was the end of November we couldn't have been any luckier with the weather, it stayed dry and bright all day...and the adrenaline kept the cold at bay long enough to get photos outside both in Portpatrick and up the hill behind GG's yard where the views and sunset were completely worth the slightly nerve-racking journey to get up there!
Huge congratulations to you both! Wishing you all the best for your future together!
